HTTPS Secure SSL Streaming
Hello,
A Chrome update recently pushed out by Google just made non-SSL code throw an error in Chrome browsers. This is likely to be a trend across all other browsers as they normally follow in the footsteps of Google. This has made it difficult for web based players to play audio as SHOUTcast does not support SSL by default. Just recently, SHOUTcast started selling a professional license for $10/month that supports SSL. I have been researching a workaround for this and I’m happy to say that we can now offer a solution.
If you have an Icecast based stream, just contact support and we can add an SSL certificate to your server and update your configuration to enable SSL on a separate port.
If you are using SHOUTcast, we can provide you a link through our SSL proxy that will allow for SSL streaming.
Both options are free of charge with your service. Please contact support if you would like this implemented.
Regards,
Breck Burgess
